FAQ'S

WHAT IS VINTAGE?

All items are vintage on our site (unless otherwise specified) are true vintage! That means that they are generally 15 - 20 years or older.  As such, they have been previously owned/worn, and are sold 'as is.' Every effort is made to fully describe each item, however some wear, loose thread or fading, etc. is to be expected. We try to photograph and note all imperfections.

AN ITEM I WANT IS OUT OF STOCK? WILL YOU BE GETTING MORE?

Since we sell vintage, we only have one of each item, and that's what makes it special! If you love it, get it, because things often go fast and we likely won't ever have it in again. It's difficult for us to keep tabs on all the request we get for specific items, so please follow us on Instagram @geminirisingvintage to see what's new!

ARE ITEMS DRY CLEANED?

We do our best to professionally sew/mend any flaws and a mild cleaning treatment is given to items with stains, and all leather goods. The majority of our clothing has been steam cleaned with a standard industrial steamer, which helps revitalize the garments. Please note that in the interest of not compromising the condition we do not launder or dry clean them, which would be heavily time consuming and drive up our prices, therefore it is up to the customer if they choose to do their own after care for hygienic reasons.

HOW DO I CARE FOR THIS?

We've been selling vintage for 9 years now, so we now a trick or two on how to care for items.  A lot of what we sell is contemporary casual wear (1980's or newer) such as denim, sweatshirts, even some rayon dresses, which you can often wash and dry as you would modern clothing.

As a general rule, if an item looks delicate, has handiwork such as beadwork or embroidery, or is 1940's or older, don't attempt to wash it. This is because colours can run and certain garments are fragile. If you're unsure, you can spot wash an inconspicuous area to check, and laid flat to dry. 1940's - modern items can be dry cleaned at your own discretion.

Our preferred method of cleaning if you are curious is to hand spot wash and lay it flat to dry. Wool garments will shrink if you put them in the dryer! Honestly when it comes to stains, certain marks are just in there and part of the process of buying vintage. T-shirts and easier cotton fabrics can be washed with a bit of Oxi-clean in a white load, that will often do the trick rather than harsh bleaches.

CAN I GET EXTRA PICS?

We invest a lot of time in organizing photo shoots with models. We are happy to take extra photos for items over $100 such as detail shots of the label or flaws. Please keep in mind that some colors and flaws are hard to can sometimes be hard to capture due to variances in lighting and computer monitors.
